I'm interested in booking you for my wedding. What's the next step?
First, contact me to check my availability. If your date is open, we’ll set up a meeting to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your wedding day, look at a bunch of photos and videos, I’ll answer any questions you might have, and find out if we’re a good fit.
What do you require to hold my wedding date?
A 25% deposit and a signed contract are required at the time of booking to hold your date.
Do you charge a travel fee?
I’m based in Shelby, North Carolina and do not charge a travel fee for locations within 50 miles. I will happily travel to other locations for a reasonable travel fee.
How would you describe your style?
I work in a documentary style. I love capturing candids, but I also really enjoy setting up small still lifes with your shoes, accessories, and decorations. (A lot of work went into those details and they should be remembered!) I always focus on storytelling in my imagery. Each wedding will determine the color palette, cadence, and overall feeling of your images. I am there to make sure your wedding is recorded just as you imagined it.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day of?
That depends on whether I’m shooting photos or recording video. I own top of the line Canon cameras and L series lenses. If I’m shooting photos, I’ll bring multiple flashes so that I can create sharp, vivid imagery, even at your evening reception. If I’m shooting video, I’ll bring all of my Canon gear as well as audio equipment, including recorders and body microphones, so that I can capture crisp, clean sound. I’ll also bring a video light to brighten up any dark spaces at your venue.
Why do you offer both photography and videography?
I was originally trained as a photographer, but fell in love with filmmaking in graduate school. All of my imagery has a similar style, whether it’s moving or still. I love creating high quality images that use light and color in a creative way.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Absolutely! I always bring backups so that I am prepared for anything.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes.
Can I make my own prints?
Of course! Each photography package includes a print release that allows you to make prints without having to go through me.
When should I book a newborn session?
Contact me during your pregnancy and I will tentatively schedule you for a week following your due date. Once your baby has arrived, please contact me as soon as you can and we will finalize a date and time for your session.
Do you book more than one newborn appointment each day?
No. When I schedule your newborn session, I clear my calendar for the entire day. Safety and comfort are my top priorities when photographing newborns. I always move slowly and allow your baby as much time as he or she needs to fall into a deep sleep. We take as many breaks as we need to make sure that your baby is as happy as possible.
What kinds of activities are good for family portraits?
I usually suggest coming up with an outdoor activity that represents your family. Young children aren’t always interested in posing, so having a picnic, bringing some games, and playing with bubbles are all great ways to keep the whole family engaged.
